Dissertations Everywhere!
An update to my previous post. I received an email yesterday from my professor friend at UA. He told me he was sending another doctoral candidate my way. He told me she was struggling with her dissertation and had been using a different editor, but he informed her he wanted her to hire me instead. He said he felt the other editor's critiques were useful but he did not like her tone. I'm pretty thrilled at this. It was one thing when he put blind faith in my abilities, but now he is sending people to me, comfortable in the knowledge that I will help them and provide them with quality proofreading and editing.

New Clients
A very interesting thing happened a couple months ago. I met a man from a dating site. We went and had lunch one day. He is a professor at UA (Roll Tide). During our lunch, he told me that it was my writing on my dating profile that initially drew him to me. He could see the talent. Through the course of our conversation, he discovered that I am also a proofreader and private tutor. He told me that he was the chair person for a PhD candidate who was struggling with his dissertation proposal and that he had already told the young man if he didn't get some outside help soon, he was going to have to drop him because he didn't feel like he could give him the attention he needed to make it through the process. It was a very interesting turn of events. I eventually met with the student, helped him with his proposal, earned some pretty decent money, received positive feedback from the professor, and was directed to several more students. And it was all due to a story I wrote and posted on my personal's profile. I have to say it was a pleasant surprise and a wonderful experience. Business seems to find me in the oddest of places. And I'm not complaining in the least.
